朝ヨガは９時からのクラスに参加。よく寝れたし、まぁ良しとしよう。
I've failed to keep my new morning ritual to go to 7am yoga class...
but still decided to join from 9am. I slept fairly well, so all is good.
今日は近所散策の日にしました〜。
街でも「もう夏も終わりね〜」という声をよく聞くようになり、近くのスーパーも秋仕様にチェンジ！
Today, I decided to walk around Astoria, see what's up in town.
People are talking to each other saying "Summer is officially over..." and supermarkets are looking
all Autumn.
お腹が空いたのでカフェに入ってみると、何やらここはグリルドチーズで有名なお店らしい。
I walk into a cafe and apparently, they are known for their grilled cheese sandwiches!
*grilled cheese とはチーズをパンに挟んで焼く、アメリカではおふくろの味的なものです！
ちっちゃい頃よく友達のお家で作ってもらったなぁ
私が選んだのはグリュイエールチーズのサンドイッチ。
これ正解。とっても美味でした。（余談ですが、スーパーに行っても本当にチーズの種類が豊富。たくさんありすぎて選びきれず、まだ買ってないんですけどね。）
I chose a gruyere grilled cheese sandwich, mmm it was delicious.
(I'm always amazed at the variety of cheese there is in this country! The other day I took a look in the supermarket, but couldn't decide which one to get...)
コーヒーをテイクアウトして、その後もテクテク。
I bought a coffee to take with me and continued walking.
マンハッタンに比べるとかなり静かな街中。そんなに人はいないし、なんとなく流れる空気がゆっくり。いろーんな国の言語で書かれたサインのお店がいっぱい、聞こえてくる言葉も様々。場所によってギリシャ語のサインが多くある場所もあれば、中東系の地域も。かと思いきや日本食のお店も結構あったりなんかして、今日歩いていても少なくとも５人は日本人とすれ違いましたね。
Compared to Manhattan, Astoria is a very quiet neighborhood. Not so many people, the air seems to flow a bit slower. Such varieties of stores with signs of many languages, and the people speaking different languages. I noticed many Greek signs, and in a different area more Middle Eastern. Many Japanese restaurants too, I must've walked past at least 5 Japanese people today.
数十年前まではギリシャ、イタリアからの移民がほとんどで、彼らと少数民族の間でわだかまりもあったようですが、今では100近くの国の人が比較的平和に共存しているそうです。
According to an article, Astoria is one of the most diverse urban spaces in the world. Until a few decades ago, when the newer immigrants were mostly Greeks and Italians, there was said to be more tension between them and the ethnic minorities, but now, people from nearly 100 countries live here and they coexist pretty peacefully.

川の方まで行こうと思ったのですが、（公園があるそうで！）ルームメイトと約束していたので引き返し。歩いてどこでも行けそうなことがわかったので、ちょっとずつ開拓していきます。
My original plan was to walk towards the water (I heard there is a park) but because I had plans with my roommate, I decided to go back. I've realised now that I could walk to pretty much anywhere, so I'll leave the fun for later.
でも時間がなくなった本当の理由は、素敵なヴィンテージショップを見つけてしまい、ついつい目を奪われてしまったから。笑
私のためにあるんじゃないかってくらいサイズぴったりのラインの綺麗なパンツ、あと帽子も… 欲しいものいっぱいだったのですが、今日は買わない！！誘惑に勝ちました♪
ちょっと考えてみよう。うん。
But the real reason I ran out of time was... because I found a beautiful vintage store and got carried away. haha
Oh the gorgeous pants, perfect in size, and the hat as well... but yes, I'd promised myself I wouldn't buy anything today and I managed to withstand temptation.
さぁ明日は久しぶりにランニングしようかな。
Astoria Parkに行ってみようと思います。
Tomorrow I will perhaps go running in the morning to Astoria Park.
